ALBUM REVIEW
Artist: Tami Chynn Album: Out Of Many... One Exec. Producer: Conroy Forte Label: Universal Release Date: August 7, 2006
If your into the reggae scene, dancehall in particular, than you probably know who Tami Chynn is. For those who don't know, her songs like ''Hyperventilating'' & ''Looky Looky'' have been a mainstay in reggae clubs around the world for the past year. Born and raised in Jamaica, Tami's mixed heritage of Black, White, Chinese & Indian gives her a unique look. One that most people wouldn't associate with her voice at first listen. Although this album has already seen international release, it has yet to make it to the U.S. That's unfortunate cause this album is actually pretty good.
The first half of the album is all about the club. Tami does a great job on all her dancehall songs, riding the riddim better than some veterans. Stand out songs include ''Be Mine'' & ''Tell Mi Deh''. The second half of the album is a mix of Rockaz, R&B, Pop & HipHop inspired tracks. For some, these tracks may be hit or miss, but I think they fit in well. These tracks provide more of a showcase for her vocals which are solid.
Overall this is a pretty solid debut effort that that is not made easily available to U.S. fans. If you like artists like Rihanna or Alaine than you should definitely check this one out. You may have to do a little hunting to find an import copy which may also run you more cash, than the normal CD. My suggestion, try & find a used copy, it's worth at least that much.
