ALBUM REVIEW

Artist: Shareefa
Album: Point Of No Return
Exec. Producer: Ludacris, Chaka Zulu & Jeff Dixon
Label: Def Jam
Release Date: October 24, 2006

The ''Soul of DTP'', that's what Shareefa is called. Although DTP features anither R&B singer in Bobby Valentino, Shareefa is definitely the better of the two. Point Of No Return, her debut album, is a pleasant surprise from the DTP roster.

Production on this album is good. Tracks are reminiscent of Faith Evans or mary J Blige. The cause for this is due mostly to the producers enlisted to work on this album. Chucky Johnson & Rodney Jerkins, who have produced tracks for both these artists, craft tracks for Shareefa that showcase her gritty vocals.

Speaking of her gritty vocals, let's just say that she rarely strays outside her range on the album. It's these vocals, however, that give her songs more impact. She sings about dealing with her ''Ex'' whether it be an ex-boyfriend, or an ex-friend & calls one out one the song ''Phony''. Other topics include relationships & dealing with hardships. With only two guest appearances by Ludacris & Bobby Valentino this album is all Shareefa & that's not a bad thing. Stand out tracks include ''Cry No More'', ''Eye Wonder'' & ''Fevah [He Don't Know]''.

Overall this album is pretty good & by today's standards it's great. If you like artists like Faith Evans or Mary J. Blige than I highly suggest picking this one up. This album will appeal to both the young bucks & the old heads and with proper promotion could do very well.
