Release Date: October 3, 2006

For those who don't know, The Evolution of Robin Thicke is Robin Thicke's second album [or third if you count the renaming of his first album 7 re-release a year later]. His first album Cherry Blue Skies/Beautiful World was released in 2003 and while it was a solid album it did not sell very well. Those who took a chance & purchased that album came away appreciating the artist & his music. But as quickly as he came on the scene he seem to disappear. He stayed busy, however, writing & producing songs for artists like Usher & Christina Aguilera. Now back on the scene with momentum from the Lil' Wayne track ''Shooter'' wich samples Thicke's ''Oh Shooter'' & his single ''Wanna Love U Girl'' f/ Pharrell, Thicke may be around for a while.

The album has a strong ''Neo-Soul'' sound to it with an abundance of laid back grooves. Production duties are handled by Thicke himslef along with The Neptunes. Production is good but their are a couple of questionable tracks that seem a little out of place, one being the big band latin sound of ''Everything I Can't Have''.

Thicke isn't a vocal genius but his relaxed delivery & mellow tone make him pleasurable to listen to. He also makes up for what little shortcomings he may have with his superbly crafted lyrics. With love being the predominate theme throughout the album. Standout tracks include ''Would That Make U Love Me'' & ''Teach U A Lesson'' which ironically also has a latin sound to it but of the acoustic guitar nature. Faith Evans also guests on ''Got 2 Be Down''

Overall this is a very solid album & in my opinion better than Timberlake's FutureSex|LoveSounds. So if you like J.T. or artists like Jamiroquai than this album is worth checking out.
