Young Jeezy has been all over the place lately. Appearing on Gucci Mane's ''So Icy'', a member of Boyz N Da Hood & now with his solo release Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101. I'll avoid critiquing the state of Hip Hop & review this album from the context of today's current music scene.

What impressed me the most was the production on this album. The tracks vary in style & are somewhat reminiscent of the early days of southern rap [Rap-A-Lot] with a little bit of west coast [N.W.A] thrown in. It can easily be bumped in the ride [for those fortunate enough to have one with a decent system] or on your music player of choice through a decent pair of headphones on your daily commute. Producers include Doug Cannon, Mannie Fresh, Jazze Pha, Frank Nitti & Akon.

Where the album doesn't do it for me is lyrically. Don't get me wrong, the flow is tight & he sounds great over the tracks & actually does a good job of freaking the beats. Take the time to listen to what he's actually saying, however, and one begins to wonder how many songs about drugs, money, cars, jewelry & sex are really necessary. But if you don't focus on the lyrics too much & turn up the bass, it's actually a good listen. Stand out tracks include ''Don't Get Caught'', ''Soul Survivor'' f/ Akon, ''Tear It Up'' f/ Lloyd & Slick Pulla & ''Talk To Em''.

Overall a surprisingly good album. If you're into artists like Gucci Mane, Ying Yang Twins, & Mike Jones than you'll probably enjoy this album. If you're kind of undecided about the above artists, this album is one of the best of it's class. If you don't care for any of the above artists, than just skip this one.
