ALBUM REVIEW

Artist: Mary J. Blige
Album: Love & Life
Exec. Producer: Mary J. Blige & Sean Combs
Label: Geffen
Release Date: August 26, 2003

Love & Life is the first pairing of Mary J. Blige & Sean ''P Diddy'' Combs since their groundbreaking collaboration on the My Life album which, to this day, is still Blige's best album. The reunion is an attempt to try & capture some of the magic that made My Life such a monumental album. While they don''t quite manage to do that they have managed to put together another quality M.J.B. album.

More than 10 years & Mary's still getting the job done, in the music industry thats rare. With this album she still brings her special brand of Hip Hop/R&B that I have yet to grow tired of. While She has never been the greatest vocalist, her voice is raw & above all real. She knows her range & stays in it & gives everything she has to vocally represent on the tracks.

As for production all that needs to be said is ''Diddy''. He has always been on top of his game & always manages to make tracks that not only fit a specific artist but make that artist sound even better. The same goes for his production on this album. What he has done above everything else, however, is bring the Hip Hop back to Blige's R&B which has been missing from her last couple of albums. All but 1 of the tracks were produced by Diddy the 1 being ''Not Today'' which was produced by Dr. Dre. Guest appearances include Jay-Z, Eve, 50 Cent & Method Man.

My only problem with the album coincidentally is the only problem i had with the My Life album. I wish the interludes were longer. Other than that its a very good album with my favorite track being changing from day to day. As of this writing it is currently the last track on the album ''Ultimate Realationship [A.M.]''.

Overall its a solid album & worth picking up by every & anybody whether Hip Hop head or R&B lover.
