ALBUM REVIEW

Artist: The Land In Between Volume 2
Album: From The Ground Up
Exec. Producer: Gregory Doby
Label: Regime Records
Release Date:

Being a music lover, I'm always on the look out for something or someone new. So when I was sent the album The Land In Between Volume 2 I figured i would give it a listen to. I remembered listening to Volume 1 & thinking there was real promise. For those who may not know, the album is a compilation featuring artists from the Regime Records label. The label is based in Madison, Wisconsin & feature several artists doing both R&B & Hip Hop. Artists like Big Three, Stoney, Stryfe, Benny Blanco, L.U.V. & duo Northern Ice.

The problem that usually affects most independent albums is poor production quality. This album, however, avoids that with beats that would be at home on any major label's album. Production duties are handled by ''Ginx Da Produca'' and while comparisons can be drawn the tracks never sound like their trying to imitate a certain sound or production style.

The artists on the album are pretty good and have no problem holding there own. They flow well over the tracks & not 1 gets lost in the shuffle as the ''mediocre one''. Nor do they all sound or flow alike which is a plus. Regime has put together a talented team of artists that, if not for today's MTV owned airwaves, would probably be putting Wisconsin on the map.

Overall its a surprisingly good album. Production is tight & vocals are better than most. If you dig the underdog, the underground or the under appreciated, than The Land In Between Volume 2 is one album worth checking out.
