Another soundtrack. Out of all the possible kinds of albums that ever see their way to store shelves, the movie soundtrack is my most hated. They usually consist of a few songs from artists you know & a bunch from artists that the label who puts the album out are trying to break. I wish movies would go back to the day when one recognized artist did the entire soundtrack or at the least the same producer.

Having said that it's no surprise to find that the 2 Fast 2 Furious Soundtrack follows the current trend. The only difference being that the list of known artists & the list of unknowns are about 50/50.

The Known
The known list consists of Ludacris, Trick Daddy, Tyrese, R Kelly, 8 Ball, Fat Joe, Kardinal Offishall & Lil' Flip. All the songs provided by these artists were made for the album & not just tracks taken from the artists respective album. The songs by the ''known's'' are all pretty good with stand out tracks being Luda's ''Act A Fool'', Tyrese, Luda & R Kelly on ''Pick Up The Phone'' & [surprisingly] Lil' Flip's ''Rollin On 20's''. I also like Dead Prez's ''Hell Yeah'' but can honestly say some may disagree.

The Unknown
The unknown list consists of some artists that you might know due to current singles they may have out now, but i have listed them here because they have yet to release an album. The artists are I-20, Shawnna, Chingy, Jin, Joe Buddens, Dirtbag, Pit Bull & K'Jon. Now I don't know who half these fools are & if they will ever make another song is anyones guess so i'll just focus on the artist whose tracks stood out. Joe Buddens of course, whose Just Blaze produced single ''Pump It Up'' is currently in heavy rotation in most markets. For those not feeling Chingy's single ''Right Thurr'' [myself included] his song ''Gettin' It'' is much better. Also Jin on ''Peel Off'' & Pit Bull on ''Oye'' where decent.

Production on the album has it's high's & low's and tend to lean more to a southern sound which is no surprise considering the movies setting in miami & the fact that its on the Def Jam South label. Production talent on the album is no different than that of the artists & is pretty much hit or miss. Known producers include Just Blaze & R Kelly.

Overall the album is not as bad as most but not as good as others which puts it right in the middle. There's enough on the album to justify purchasing it on sale, but i wouldn't consider paying full price for it.
